Shruti Haasan hit the headlines once again when she disassociated herself from the Tamil version of her Bollywood movie D-Day
where she played the role of a karachi Prostitute. The actress even
sent out a press release stating she was going to take legal action
against the producer of the film for releasing the film in Tamil without
her consent. Even the director and co-producer of the movie Nikhil
Advani supported Shruti's claim but the other producer Vivek Rangachari
of DAR Motion pictures has confirmed that the tamil Version Dawood will
indeed release as scheduled on February 7th. He also added that Nikhil
was well aware of the release plans in Tamil and also gave consent for
the same but he has now opposed the same to please Shruti Haasan.
DAR Motion Pictures
also added that D-Day was their property and they had the exclusive
rights of releasing it in as many languages as they wished. "Shruti
only starred in the film and didn’t enter into any agreement with us as
such, she doesn't have any locus standi on the issue. We have instructed
the distributors of the Tamil film not to use some ‘specific still
photographs’ in publicity campaign
and on the film’s posters in Tamil. Shruti doesn't have any right to
instruct us; if she keeps doing so, we shall take legal action against
her,” the company said.
