Will Superstar's Magnum opus Kochadaiyaan indeed hit the screens
on May 9 ? Well there are numerous rumors emerging that there is a form
of difference of opinion between its producers and distributors
regarding the unsettled dues which sources say amounts to several
crores.
According to a source reported by Times of India, "Adding
fuel to fire was the sudden decision of the makers to stop the release
of ads announcing the film's release. All this led to speculation on
whether the film would release as originally promised." The film's makers had only recently officially announced that the film would release on May 9 this year.
Sources said
that Murali Manohar had been holding talks with distributors to resolve
the issue and that a meeting was held in this regard on Tuesday.
Neither Murali Manohar nor the film's director Soundarya could be
reached for their comments.
However, Jayakumar, Secretary of the TN Film Distributors Association, trashed the rumours. He said, "Normally, when a big film is to release, there are discussions on percentages, tickets
rates and so on. That is what has been happening in this case. The
advertisements will be released from tomorrow. Already, tax exemption
has been granted to the film. Everything has been sorted out and the
film is all set to release as per schedule."
